It’s been a tough year for Cornwall. Many businesses have had to accept fewer sales for harder work. All this is understandable and Artists are an especially resilient breed.
Fewer visitors in the run up to August and the school holidays meant that the work we had on offer was of a high standard, plentiful and also priced competitively. This resulted in a very good late Summer and early Autumn. Many of our customers are regulars and a good proportion of these have taken advantage of our twelve payment plan, whereby we accept regular payments by standing order for up to a year, and beyond in some instances.
Two of us (Chris Insoll and Daniel Holmes Adams) will be represented again by The Patricia Christie Gallery at this year’s Affordable Art fair in Battersea (15- 19 October). The pictures left today. (See image). Both of us have been quietly putting aside work for this collaboration which is important to us and takes our work into London rather than expecting all of our customers to visit the Gallery regularly. Tickets to this event are available free to those of you who read our blog and live near enough, and would like to have a look at our recent pictures in the flesh rather than just on a screen.
It is also the time for the St Ives society of Arts Autumn members’ show in the Mariners’ Gallery in St Ives.(On now). Work by Eric Ward, Howard Milton and Chris Insoll are included. Meanwhile, the Gallery in Portscatho has been re designed inside. Last year it was outside when we unleashed our coloured windows upon the holiday visitors. As I write, I hope that we have as good a show and as warm a welcome as ever. We look forward to seeing our valued customers, many of whom have become friends, to the showroom.
How many shopping days until Christmas…?
