The New Gallery Blog, written by Chris Insoll –
April is the cruellest month according to T S Eliot. But for us April here at The New Gallery marks the beginning of spring. Including the fresh easterly winds as well as the marvellous spring sunshine and wildflowers for which Cornwall is renowned.
As I write I am tucked in beside the Fisherman’s shelter in Portscatho, avoiding a fresh wind whilst watching a blue green sea throwing up lovely white waves into the sunlit harbour.
Meanwhile, The New Gallery, is brimming full of our Autumn and Winter paintings. As Easter approaches, so do our visitors, and for those lucky enough to come early, we have our best ever selection from our Gallery Artists.
However, this is now the time for forays onto the footpaths and into the harbours around the Roseland peninsular. The first few boats will soon be in the harbour. The beaches will be almost deserted and our village will look very much like it did in 1985 when we started with a small Gallery on the corner of River street. Now we have a marvellous building in the square. With a studio overlooking the Portscatho rooftops and Gerrans bay.
For those unable to visit us this spring. Paintings by Howard Milton and Chris Insoll have already been dispatched. Heading to The Patricia Christie Galleries in London for exhibition on their stand at the Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead in May. Watch this space……
